The "Click Scan" (original name) or "Pass" (new name) in GroovePacker allows you to click the SKU or a Button during order verification to indicate that the correct item has been added when it's not possible to scan the barcode or the barcode has not been assigned yet. (Passing unbarcoded items is possible in GPX)
Passing VS Skipping
It is easy to confuse Passing items with the "Skippable" option which designates gifts or promotional items that are not critical to the shipment. Only an item with the skippable option can be skipped. Skippable items are actually removed from the order when they are skipped. A click-scan is more like visually verifying the item and saying "yep, I'm putting it in the box". If you're wondering it is also possible to disable the option to pass/click-scan items. This can be done per product in the products detail page or globally in the settings.
Using the pass funciton.
Click-scans are ideal for items that are not barcoded yet or for damaged or missing barcodes.
The are a couple of small differences between how click-scans are handled in the legacy GroovePacker app and the GPX app.
In GPX there is a button that lets the user pass the item if the option is enabled:

Please note that while scanning with the Legacy interface, the item will still have to have a barcode value assigned before the order will display. So while the item may not have a physical barcode label that can be scanned, some value must be saved in GroovePacker as it's "barcode", even if it is just a placeholder. This is as easy as copying the SKU and pasting it in the barcode field. If you have many that will be done this way the "generate barcode from SKU" option can be used to quickly generate a barcode value from the SKU for many items.
In the GPX app you can open orders that contain items that do not have barcodes assigned and it's possible use the Pass button to pass the item (without first assigning a barcode). If a barcode sticker has been added to the item and not yet saved in GroovePacker, it can be scanned in and saved while scanning.
CLICKSCAN / PASS Barcodes - Pass items using just the scanner
It is also possible to use an Action Barcode to perform the function. You may find the PASS barcode appears in the settings section instead of the CLICKSCAN. We are transitioning to the PASS barcode and to calling the function the Pass function. The option to enable the function (whatever it's called) can be found in Settings> System > Scan & Pack > Scan Actions. The barcode can be printed there by clicking on the printer icon.
Since there is a potential for this feature to be abused you can disable it for all products or on a product-by-product basis.
We recommend leaving it enabled and reviewing your daily scanning email report to see if the feature is being used improperly.
