It's often helpful to provide the packer or picker notes regarding a specific order.

Use cases:

  • Add a gift or sample for a customer
  • Make a specific substitution if needed
  • Verify something about the order or order item

Rather than writing a note on the packing slip this notes can be delivered with a digital sticky note during the scanning of the order. It's also possible to require a confirmation step so that the user can confirm they have seen mission-critical notes.

There are a few types of order fields that can be displayed during scanning. These can be found by opening an order record and clicking the Notes tab.

If you're manually adding notes to an order in GroovePacker the "Notes to Packer" field is ideal as this field is always shown to the user during scanning.

The internal notes field is best if the notes are going to be added in an order manager like ShipStation or ShippingEasy. Their internal notes can be imported into GroovePacker. The setting to enable this is in the store settings for the connection. The notes field visible in the GroovePacker Orders list is the Internal notes field. This means you'll see imported internal notes right in the list. If internal notes are set to display during scanning, then imported notes as well as notes added directly in the list field will be visible during scanning.

Once imported or added in the list Internal notes can be shown to the packer by enabling the option in Settings > System > Scan and Pack:

Confirmation can also be enabled for order notes. This will require the user to scan or enter their confirmation code to confirm they have seen the note before they continue. Confirmation is normally optional and can be enabled for specific notes. The General settings page has an option that can be used to require confirmation on all order notes if required.

When confirmation is not required notes will pop-up between the scanning field and the suggested item.

When confirmation is enabled the note will pop up in a window which prevents the user from continuing until they provide confirmation that they have seen the note. Confirmation can be handled two different ways. By default "strict confirmation codes" are disabled. This makes it possible to press the Enter key to acknowledge  and dismiss the note. It's also possible to require that the user enter their specific confirmation code by enabling the "scrict confirmation codes" option in Settings > System > General
