Packing Cam is a Pro feature available only in the GroovePacker X (GPX) app that allows users to save an image of the items that have been scanned for an order and are about to be packed. This image can be captured from a connected camera, such as a mobile device camera, webcam, or laptop cam. Images can be saved with the order in GroovePacker for your own records or shared with the customer automatically. The purpose of this feature is to visually document the items that have been scanned and provide peace of mind to the customer. If the image is shared with the customer they can review the items and identify any issues. This has the added benefit of reducing false “missing item” claims.

When enabled, an image will be taken after the final item in the order is scanned. The user has the option to approve, cancel, or retake the image. The saved images can be viewed in the Packing Cam tab and can also be included in the customer page that shows the Packing Cam images and the items packed. There are also settings available to enable or disable the Packing Cam feature, as well as a customer email which includes a link to the customer page where order images are viewable. There are also options for branding and customizing the customer page.

To enable and use the Packing Cam feature in GroovePacker, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Settings section in GroovePacker.

  2. Find the Scan and Pack settings page in the system settings tab.

  3. Scroll down to the Packing Cam section. (if you have the pro feature set enabled and the section is not visible please contact support)

  4. Enable the Packing Cam feature by toggling the switch to "On".

  5. Customize the Packing Cam page by updating the text fields and add a company logo.

  6. Choose whether or not to display the packing list and whether or not the customer should be emailed with a link to the page.

  7. Save your changes.

To use the Packing Cam feature:

  1. After scanning all the items in an order, a countdown will appear on the screen.

  2. Once the countdown completes, an image will be captured from the connected camera.

  3. You will have the option to approve the image, cancel it, or retake it.

  4. Saved images will appear in the Packing Cam tab.

  5. In the packing cam tab you can save additional images and associate them with the order.

  6. To share the images with the customer, you can use the "Email Customer" option to send them an email with a link to the page that shows the Packing Cam images and the items packed.

  7. You can also open the customer page directly or copy the link to the clipboard to share it via email with the customer.

You’ll need to give permissions to app.groovepacker.com in your browser so  your connected camera, such as the camera on a mobile device, a webcam, or a laptop cam, can be used with the Packing Cam feature.

Do you ever have customers accidentally order the wrong item, but not realize it until they receive their shipment? If you could make a small change, completing your packing process in a way that would allow customers to catch many of these errors, would you have less customer service and happier customers? What about customers that claim they didn't receive something, just to get free stuff? There's no doubt it happens. The question is, how can it be prevented? I'm glad to share a new Groove Packer feature that helps catch customer errors and prevent fraudulent claims. We're calling it Packing Cam. Let me show you how it works. First, you scan a packing slip or shipping label to queue in order. As each item is scanned, it's placed in a staging area. Depending on your workflow, you might stage items at a packing station or write on a pick cart. After the last item in the order is scanned, the user will see a countdown and an image is automatically taken. The image is displayed so it can be saved, retaken or canceled. On a mobile device, the device camera is used. With desktop setups, you can use a webcam. Saved images will be stored with the order in Groove Packer. The real utility is kicked off when you enable the option to send the customer a link to their order page, where they can view the image of their order. While there, they can review a packing list of each of the items that was scanned. If you like, the scanning log of the order can also be displayed so they can see each scan and a timestamp. This page gives a customer a chance to review what will be shipping moments after it's scanned. Having the opportunity to see their actual order increases the likelihood they'll take a look and catch any issues. Customers looking to game the system and score-free stuff will be immediately deterred because they know you know exactly what was in the shipment. We hope that by having your team take a few seconds to capture this image, you'll be able to reduce costs and increase customer delight. If you're not yet using Groove Packer for your fulfillment, come learn more at GroovePacker.com. Thanks for watching and stay groovy.
