Q: I am selling a lunchbox that includes 12 separate toys and the lunchbox itself. I want the users to scan each of the toys and the lunchbox each time a customer places an order that includes the lunchbox. How should this be set up in GroovePacker?

A: To set up a scenario to scan the lunchbox gift box and its 12 separate toys in GroovePacker, you can use a kit. The 12 toys and an additional item that will represent the lunchbox to be scanned, will be added to the kit. The SKU the customer orders will be changed to a kit in GroovePacker.

Follow these steps:

Create separate products for each of the 12 toys if they do not already exist. Assign each toy a unique SKU and barcode so it can be scanned.

Create an additional product that will represent the lunchbox during scanning. This lunchbox "scanning" item will be different from the item that is sold in the store. It can have any Product Name and SKU you like. The Important part is that the barcode value saved with this item must match the barcode on the physical label that will be scanned when the lunchbox itself is scanned.

Create a product for the lunchbox in GroovePacker if one does not already exist. The SKU for this item must match the SKU sold in the store when a customer purchases the lunchbox. A place-holder barcode will also need to be saved on this item. In most cases, the SKU is saved again in the Barcode field. This barcode will not need to be scanned.

Now we'll change this item to a Kit so the toy items and lunchbox can be added as "part" items. Open the product detail page of this lunchbox item by clicking its name. When it opens you'll be on the Product info tab. Near the top of the page, choose 'Change this product to a kit'. On mobile, this option will be in the 'Edit' drop-down.

This will change the item to a kit and open the kit options tab. You can now click on the option to add items to the kit. Search by the Names, SKUs, or Barcodes of the items. As you find each, click the circle icon in its row to select it and continue searching and selecting until all 12 toy items And the LunchBox "scanning" item have been selected.

Finish by clicking Save and Close once to save the items. You can check that all items are listed in the kit part list and then click Save and Close again to complete the changes to the kit.

It should now be possible to cue any order that contains the Kit SKU, which is sold in the store, and the user will be prompted to scan the 12 toys and the lunchbox.
