In most cases, GroovePacker uses image URLs to find and display product images. If the image location or path to the image changes, the URL will need to be updated if you want to continue to see the image.
Below are the steps to quickly find and fix broken images. If you would like to find the Image URL for a specific image without exporting all broken and missing images please skip down to "Finding the URL of a Specific Image".
If you have all of your product images in Shopify you can use the "Fix Broken Images" option explained here.
First, navigate to the products section and choose the Show All view.
Then click the Select All button.
This will select all of your products.
Now, from the Edit dropdown on the right side of the interface, choose the Broken / Missing image export.
A report that contains all of your missing and broken images will be created and emailed to your System Notifications email address. Unless it has been modified, this will be the address given when your account was setup. If you would like to modify the address you can find it in Settings > General Settings > System Preferences
The exported CSV will contain a list of products. The list will begin with items that have image URLs that are broken. In other words a 404 error (not found) is reported when GroovePacker tries to load the image. These products are easy to identify in the list because the image URL is present.
These broken URLs can be removed in bulk using the bulk delete method here. To create the bulk delete csv, one option would be to copy the rows containing broken URLS to another sheet. Replace the broken URL with [DELETE]. Then save and import this sheet. You'll map the SKU column, and the image URL column (which will have [DELETE] for every product.
Manual removal is also possible if there are not too many items to be removed manually. This would be done by opening each product in GroovePacker and clicking the X button on the broken image. Once the broken URL is removed working URL can be added.
The next items in the csv have no image associated with them and the Image URL field will be blank. Their URLs can be copied and pasted from your website or from an export (usually from your online store). Once you have the correct URLs, importing them is easy. You can use the product import option in GroovePacker. You'll only need to map the SKU and Image URL columns. It's often easiest to add the missing urls directly to the CSV that lists the items that have missing images and then save and import it.
Finding the URL of a Specific Image
To quickly find the URL for a specific image just right click on the image, or the broken image indicator, where it is shown in the Products List.
This will copy the URL to your clipboard. You can paste this URL into your browser to verify the link no longer works.
Uploading a Single Image
If you have saved the image you would like to use to your computer you can replace the broken image by clicking on the product name to open the product, then click the X beside the broken image to remove it. Lastly, just click the Add Image button and browse to the new image that you have saved.
Flagging Place-holder Images
When an item does not have an image it will often display a generic place-holder image like the one shown below. Since the image does exist, this item would not normally be included in the Missing or Broken images report. To remedy this, you can click the Flag icon to flag this as a place-holder image. This will include all of the products that contain this image in the report so an updated images can be added if desired.
