A receive and recount feature exists in GroovePacker to make it faster to quickly update inventory counts and bin locations in GroovePacker.

The GPX app has an updated version of the Receive and Recount section. The two are similar but the GPX version has some brand new features. See the video below for details:

You'll find the new Receive and Recount sections in the main menu in the GPX app. You can choose from a few different workflows. In the Receiving section, the inventory counts are added to your current stock. In the Recount mode, the counts provided will overwrite the previous quantity on hand.

In the Legacy app the Receive/Recount feature can be found here by clicking on Products > Inventory > Receive or Recount Inventory:

Recounting:

GroovePacker can be used to record the counts made during a cycle count.

- First the quantity on hand is counted

- The barcode of the item is scanned in GroovePacker to assure the correct item is receiving the update

- Then the quantity is typed in.

When you press enter the quantity entered overwrites the existing count and GroovePacker is ready for the scan of the next item.

Be sure to select the Recount option when you begin the process:

Quantity on hand = Available + Allocated inventory. Items are allocated for all open orders in the system (those that are not Scanned or Cancelled). For this reason it's best to do the recount when there are no open orders that have inventory allocated.

If all items will be recounted you may want to set all counts to zero before you begin just to make it easier to see which items

have been counted and which have not, but this is optional. It can be done by clearing allocated orders, disabling inventory tracking from the general settings, waiting until the process completes, and then enabling inventory tracking.

Receiving:

The receiving process is similar to the recount process except that the count entered will be added to the QOH instead of overwriting the QOH. The receive inventory radio button will be selected.

It is not necessary to clear open orders before receiving inventory.

- First, the quantity being received is counted

- The barcode of the item is scanned in GroovePacker to assure the correct item is receiving the update

- Then the quantity is typed in

Before entering the quantity you can also use the tab key to tab over to any of the 3 warehouse locations if they need to be modified.

Video transcription:

Hi guys, I hope your day is going great. In this video, I want to demo the updated receive and recount section. There are some new features we've added in the GPX app that I know you'll like, so let's take a look. First, we'll open the receiving section from the menu here to begin. So this is similar to the receive and recount that we had previously. We've just added some new workflow options, so now you can optimize the workflow for just entering the quantity that's received, or entering the location, or both. And then we also have the option to scan each piece, where you're actually counting and verifying the items with the scanner.

So let's look at a couple of these. We'll start with this one. Enter quantity received and then location. So first, we'll scan the item. And you can see that it places the cursor here in the quantity received field, and we can immediately type the quantity. Okay, since we're receiving, it's going to add this to what we have on hand. Actually, maybe we'll change it to 30. So we've got an even 900. Okay, perfect. And then when we hit enter, it's going to move the cursor over to the location field next. If we had chosen just to update the quantity, then it would save the change, close this page, and let us scan the next item. But here, we're updating the location too. So let's say this is just moving to a different bin. So we're going to put B19 here. Okay, and now we hit enter. And now it brings us back to this page where we can immediately scan the next item. This makes for super fast updates for both receiving inventory and doing recounts.

The other option I want to show you is the scan each piece received. I'm excited to share this because we had so many requests for it. So we can change the workflow here and then we'll scan an item. Okay, and in this mode, it is ready for us to scan multiple pieces. And it's going to count each as we scan it. This is super helpful if you have a large box of items that need to be counted. Not only will you get an accurate count, but you'll also be able to verify that there are no similar but different items, because each bar code will be verified as well as counted. Before we scan all of them, we'll use the save button and the inventory levels are updated. I think that's a good place to wrap up. I hope you guys really enjoy the GPX app. I'll be back with more videos showing some of the other new features. Thanks for watching. Have a groovy day!
